WELCOME TO THE COMMUNITY FUND OF LAKE FOREST
GIVING AND GROWING TOGETHER
ABOUT US
Lake Forest A History Of Civic Engagement
Since its founding in 1855, Lake Forest has embraced a strong tradition of civic engagement by community members. This spirit continues today with a broad range of dedicated volunteers all giving their time to serve city government, school boards, commissions and countless committees, foundations and charities.
The Community Fund of Lake Forest (CFLF) is an outgrowth of that spirit and history. Specifically, it is designed to give residents who are passionate about our community an avenue to provide meaningful and evergreen support to the many deserving (and often underserved) 501(c)(3) charities that support the current and emerging needs of Lake Forest and its residents. Once launched, the Fund will join the ranks of some seven hundred and fifty community funds across the country similarly charged with providing support to their respective neighborhoods and residents.
OUR MISSION
Together With Faith To Overcome Poverty And Injustice
We expect key areas of focus will include wellness (e.g., mental health, suicide prevention, addictions, food insecurity and domestic violence), elder care and youth counseling/education. In all cases, recipients will be vetted 501(c)(3) organizations that provide most if not all of their support to Lake Forest and its residents.
Our Mission
The mission of the Community Fund of Lake Forest is to draw upon our generous population to assist with the current and emerging needs of our community to ensure a high quality of life for all residents.

Our Unique Endowment Approach
More specifically, we intend to raise an initial and robust donation pool that will be professionally invested and deliver returns that can fund CFLF’s mission for years to come. As the endowment grows via donor gifts, so will the amount of annual giving.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
If I make a donation, is it tax deductible?
Absolutely. The Community Fund of Lake Forest is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization.
How are the donations invested?
There will be an Investment Committee of qualified individuals from the community. This committee will make recommendations to the Board. No member of the Investment Committee will benefit financially from the decisions of the committee.
Once I make a contribution, will I be solicited annually or expected to donate in the future?
Because CFLF operates as an endowment, your gift will support Lake Forest’s qualified organizations for many years to come via its structure of donating investment returns annually. That said, the Fund will work diligently to grow its principle to allow grant levels to increase and more broadly support its mission
How will the Fund be managed if it gets very large?
At some point we would consider adding an Executive Director, but the spirit of the Fund will always look to volunteerism for its support.
