Our Mission
The mission of the Community Fund of Lake Forest is to draw upon our
generous population to assist with the current and emerging needs of
our community to ensure a high quality of life for all residents.
We expect key areas of focus will include wellness (e.g., mental health,
suicide prevention, addictions, food insecurity and domestic violence), elder
care and youth counseling/education. In all cases, recipients will be vetted
501(c)(3) organizations that provide most if not all of their support to
Lake Forest and its residents.
Our Vision
Our vision is to build CFLF into a sizable, multi-million dollar fund that will
deliver 5% to 7% of its invested assets annually to support its mission. Unless
and until The Fund grows to a significant size (over $10 million), its oversight
and management will be provided solely by qualified volunteers to keep overhead to a minimum. This structure is intended to eliminate the strain and
expense of constantly raising funds to sustain The Fund’s viability and operations
Focus of the Fund
As stated, CFLF will focus most of its support on underserved, emerging and likely lesser-known charities that primarily, if not exclusively, provide assistance to the
residents of Lake Forest. It is anticipated that monies will be directed toward charities centered around wellness (e.g., mental health, suicide prevention, addictions,
and domestic violence), elder care and youth counseling/education. Importantly, the fund is independent and intended to serve all residents equally without any
race, gender, age, religion or orientation biases. It is not affiliated with the City of Lake Forest or any political organization. Nor will it make any political contributions to any candidate. Finally, The Fund is not intended to compete with any of the worthy and long-established charities and foundations in the community. To
the contrary, it is designed to be a centralized venue that caring and generous residents can support knowing that their financial gift will go across a broad range
of important causes that will enhance the quality of life across our community.
